Who is this course aimed at?
Adults who are interested in learning to record and produce music in a recording studio. Could be for practising musicians who enjoy music as a hobby or performers who want to develop their music technology skills.
This course provides an introduction to music production and the basic technical skills needed to produce songs. On this course your tutor will guide you through the fundamentals of theory, technique and concepts, working in the recording studio, making reference to contemporary music examples. You will also be encouraged to bring in projects to get feedback.
No previous learning is required, however a passion for music and production is essential!

Time: 6.30pm - 8.30pm
- Using Cubase 9 confidently
- Understand how a recording studio works
- Ability to record a range of instruments in a studio environment
- Understanding what hardware/software you may need
- Awareness of basic mixing practices
- Being able to select the right microphone for the job
Taught by specialist music technology tutor in a recording studio.
Exams and Assessments
York College Certificate.
Do Ineed to bring my own instrument?
No need to have own equipment but can bring own musical instrument to play if you would like to.
