Who is this course aimed at?

This is aimed for people at work, self-employed or individuals wanting to enter the accounting profession

Overview

In this qualification you will master more complex accounting disciplines including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants.

Entry Requirements

Good numeracy skills are required and a keen interest in working with numbers. An application form must be completed and an interview may be required.

17th September 2019 - 15th December 2020 9.00am - 3.45pm Tuesdays

16th September 2019 - 13th July 2020 5.30pm - 9.30pm Mondays

24th January 2020 - 2nd April 2020 9.00am - 2.45pm Fridays

Course Length

37 or 33 weeks.

Course Content

In this qualification you will master more complex accounting disciplines including financial processes, Advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants. You will study:

  • Advanced Bookkeeping
  • Final Accounts preparation
  • Management accounting Costing
  • Indirect tax
  • Ethics for Accountants
  • Spreadsheets for Accounting
  • Advanced Diploma Synoptic Assessment

(The synoptic assessment will ask students to apply knowledge and skills gained across the qualification in an integrated way, within a workplace context. Scenarios will change over time to ensure the validity of the assessment).

If you are considering going on to study at university, this qualification will also attract UCAS points.

Teaching Method(s)

Classroom IT based with some E-learning through AAT platform and York College Blackboard.

Exams and Assessments

Each module is externally assessed. All assessments are set and marked by AAT. To achieve the qualification and to be awarded a grade, a student must pass all the mandatory assessments, including the synoptic assessment. Unit and synoptic assessments are not awarded grades individually, but the marks achieved in all assessments contribute to the students’ overall grade for the qualification.

Qualification(s)

AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting – Level 3.

Achieve professional AAT Bookkeeper status If you successfully complete this qualification, you can apply for AAT associate bookkeeping membership and achieve professional AATQB status.

Progression

AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting - Level 4.
