Who is this course aimed at?

This is aimed for people at work, self-employed or individuals wanting to enter the accounting profession.

Overview

This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry-level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration, covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software.

Entry Requirements

Good numeracy skills are required and a keen interest in working with numbers. An application form must be completed and an interview may be required.

16th September 2019 - 15th June 2020, 9.00am - 2.00pm, Mondays

17th September 2019 - 16th June 2020, 6.00pm - 9.30pm, Tuesdays

21st January 2020 - 8th December 2020, 9.00am - 2.30pm, Tuesdays

Course Length

30 or 31 weeks.

Course Content

You will learn finance, accountancy, business and communications skills. As part of your studies you will complete the following:

  • Bookkeeping Transactions
  • Bookkeeping Controls
  • Elements of Costing
  • Work Effectively in Finance
  • Using Accounting Software

Teaching Method(s)

Classroom IT based with some E-learning through AAT platform and York College Blackboard.

Exams and Assessments

Each module is externally assessed. All assessments are set and marked by AAT. To achieve the qualification and to be awarded a grade, a student must pass all the mandatory assessments, including the synoptic assessment. Unit and synoptic assessments are not awarded grades individually, but the marks achieved in all assessments contribute to the students’ overall grade for the qualification.

Qualification(s)

AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting - Level 2.

Progression

AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting – Level 3.
