Entry requirements
Students are required to hold either the VTCT Level 2 Award in Facial Massage and Skin Care or VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Certificate in Facial Skincare (or equivalent) and a qualification in Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology.
Course units
During the course, you will:
- Receive hands-on training in three different needling technologies, learning various application methods.
- Complete three home-based assignments, unless exempt due to prior completion within the last three years.
- The assignments include:
>Principles and Practice of Aesthetic Treatments
>Advanced Consultation for Aesthetic Treatments
>Advanced Skincare for Aesthetic Treatments
>Participate in a final theory and practical examination at the college to earn your qualification
Throughout this qualification, you will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety pertaining to Level 4 non-medical aesthetic therapies. You will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with and analyse clients whilst providing skin peeling treatments. In parallel, you will develop your communication and customer service skills and widen their knowledge of the principles and practices of Level 4 non-medical aesthetic therapies, all of which are valued highly by employers.
Upon completion, you will be awarded a recognised qualification and certificate, giving you the confidence to perform advanced treatments within your practice.
Assessment
Each course consists of four days of in-person training and assessments, delivered by experienced trainers who will guide you through both the theoretical and practical aspects of the treatment. You will then participate in a final theory and practical examination at the College to earn your qualification.

New for 2024, introductory price: £941. This cost is to be paid by the student or their employer. Payment plans available.

Study methods
This is a Level 4 qualification and students will need to demonstrate a variety of skills. Input and guidance will be provided by the tutor, face to face in College.
Facilities
York College have 2 large fully equipped hairdressing salons, an inviting commercial salon reception, 3 media make-up workshops and 2 beauty therapy salons. Adult learners will have access to professional products and equipment (including an advanced skin peeling product range).
Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
Additional costs
Students will need to wear appropriate uniform for training, this could be your own professional work uniform.
Students can purchase an optional skin needling kit.

Career progression
The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare students for employment in the advanced non-medical aesthetic industry providing skin peeling techniques.
Additionally, students may choose to further develop their knowledge and skills by completing supplementary specialist qualifications at Level 4.
