VTCT (iTEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies
The VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies is a beauty therapy qualification aimed at learners who wish to gain access to additional study of advanced therapy treatments at Level 4 and above.
This qualification consists of units at Level 2 and 3 combined to provide learners with the required underpinning knowledge to afford direct progression onto specific modality training at Level 4+.
Entry requirements
Students will have prior experience of carrying facials and ideally hold a Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy.
Students will be required to wear the College salon uniform (details will be provided at enrolment). Shoes must be flat and fully support the foot. Long hair must be tied up so that it is fully off the face and neck in a bun. Nails must be short and product free. Jewellery must not be worn for practical activities.
Course units
Learners must achieve the mandatory units:
· Maintain Health and Safety in the Salon
· Skin Analysis and Facial Skincare
· Consultation and Client Care
· Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology
· Electrical Science
Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant health and safety requirements, anatomy, physiology, and pathology and electrical science, alongside skin analysis and safe practice treatment protocols for facial skin care.
Learners will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to consult with clients, and provide specific aftercare and home care advice.
Assessment
The methods of assessment during this course include multiple choice online theory exams, practical assessment and producing a portfolio of evidence.

Dates & course durations
January-June, one evening per week.
Study methods
Students will attend lessons in College one evening per week from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. There will be a requirement to complete additional theory work at home in addition to attendance to all lessons.
Facilities
York College have 2 large fully equipped hairdressing salons, an inviting commercial salon reception, 3 media make-up workshops and 2 beauty therapy salons. Adult learners will have access to professional products and equipment (including an advanced skin peeling product range).
Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
