Uniformed Services Extended Certificate Level 2
By undertaking applied theory lessons and work-related learning you’ll gain a good understanding of the role of the uniformed services, allowing you to progress to further study or progress into the workplace.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 3 GCSE subjects at grade 3 including GCSE English and Maths at grade 3.
What will I study?
The course is made up of a range of units including;
- The Role and Work of the Public Services (E)
- Working Skills in the Public Services Sector
- Citizenship, Society and the Public Services (E)
- Crime and its Effects on Society and Individuals
- Health, Fitness and Lifestyle for the Public Services
E = externally set examined units.
We have excellent and well-established links with the Police Force, Army, Navy and RAF, Fire Service, Ambulance, Prison and Probation service who actively contribute to the work-related element of the course.
You can re-sit GCSE Maths and/or English alongside this course.
Additional costs
All students are expected to purchase the course uniform. To support outdoor education trips and visits there will be a course contribution of approximately £60.00. For further information please speak to our tutors at open events and guidance discussions.
Method of delivery
Most sessions are theory sessions, but very applied. You will have a fitness session each week. This course also involves lots of work-related activity, including guest speakers and sessions delivered by the Army, Navy, RAF, Police and the Fire and Rescue Service.
How will I be assessed?
There are two externally set examined units. The other units are assessed through assignments, case studies, practical observations and presentations.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, T Level, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
You may progress on to a Level 3 course in Uniformed Protective Services, take up employment at a junior level in the public sector or enter the Armed Forces.
