This is an exciting two-year programme where students will learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of craft and design occupations.

T Levels are an alternative to A levels, apprenticeships and other 16 to 19 courses. Equivalent UCAS points to 3 A levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and can help students into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects at grade 4 or above including a related creative subject, English Language and Maths. You will be asked to provide a portfolio of your art and design work.

What will I study?

As well as developing your knowledge, skills and behaviours across a range of Craft and Design occupations and industries, we also aim to develop your Craft and Design mindset by developing wider skills such as problem solving, adaption, visualising, improving and systems thinking. This will ensure you can apply skills for different purposes and in different roles.

Core content

Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:
• the creative economy
• the individual in the creative industries
• cultural context and vocabulary
• audience and consumer needs
• legal and regulatory requirements
• professional standards and conduct in the workplace
• equality, diversity and inclusion requirements
• research skills
• project methodology and administration
• continued professional development

Options to specialise

In addition to the core content, you will also complete at least one module of occupation-specific content.

The specialisms available in the Craft and Design T Level are:
• Jewellery maker
• Ceramics maker
• Furniture maker

Industry Placement
The 45 day industry placement allows you to develop your occupational specialism skills as well as those necessary to working in any environment, such as effective planning, working with others, health and safety and promoting equality and diversity.

    Method of delivery

As a T Level student, you will spend 80% of the course in their learning environment, gaining the skills that employers need. The other 20% is a meaningful industry placement, where you will put these skills into action.

    How will I be assessed?

Further information to follow once finalised.

    Good course combinations

This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational,
T Level, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.

    Your next steps

The T Level qualification has been designed by a panel of employers, professional bodies, and education specialists. The purpose of the Level 3 Technical qualification is to ensure that students have the knowledge and skills to progress into skilled work and higher or degree level apprenticeships, higher level technical study, including university, creative degrees relevant to the T Level.
