Health & Social Care Extended Diploma Level 3
Students on this programme will study towards an Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care. The course is equivalent to 3 A Levels over two years. This course would be suitable for anyone interested in studying in health or social care subjects at university or a higher level.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects at grade 4 or above including English and Maths or a full Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification.
What will I study?
This qualification covers a wide range of key subject areas in health and social care. The Extended Diploma includes a wide range of optional units, allowing you to pursue an interest in the specific areas of social care, health studies and health sciences, whilst still allowing enough diversity for the optional units to be tailored to suit your preferred progression path.
The course has 8 mandatory units:
Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
Human Lifespan Development
Working in Health and Social Care
Meeting Individual Care And Support Needs
Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care
Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care
Promoting Public Health
Work Experience in Health and Social Care.
There are also 5 optional units which need to be completed

How will I be assessed?
Students are required to undertake a minimum of 100 hours’ of work experience as part of the course. In addition students have externally marked exams.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
This course is designed to allow students to move on to Higher Education within the Health and Social Care field or progress in to related employment including healthcare assistant.
