Creative Media Production & Technology Diploma Level 2
Are you interested in studying a course that explores a wide variety of media production? This course allows you to create your own visual and audio digital content and present it within an online portfolio.
Creative Media Production & Technology introduces you to a wide selection of elements of the media and builds in additional skills for successful progression to the Advanced Level courses.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 4 subjects at grade 3 ideally including English and Maths. Alternatively a Foundation Certificate, related Level 1 or 2 qualification and related work experience will also be considered as part of the entry requirement.
This course also offers a good foundation base for previously home educated students and supports access to further education in an academic setting. Evidence of a personal media interest and understanding may be asked for during the application process.
What will I study?
Creative Media Production and Technology is a practical programme with an additional focus exploring a theoretical understanding of the products that will be produced. You will complete work related projects and activities, which links directly to realistic workplace demands. You will be required to produce a variety of media products as well as exploring media organisations, audiences and specific media texts. At the end of course you will be given freedom to specialise in one of the practical topics explored on the course and produce a media product of your choosing. Subject specific trips and opportunities are also offered.
Units include:
- Advertising: Visual, Audio, and Interactive Social Media Assets
- Understanding and Analysing Media Audiences and Research
- Games Design: Digital Art, Sound Design and Animation
- Graphic Design: Photography, Digital Editing and Journalism
- Audio Design: Podcasting, Radio Shows, Audiobook or Music Production
- Final Digital Production Project (area of production chosen by the student)
You may also be required to undertake GCSE/Functional Skills in English and Maths as required for your progression.
Method of delivery
You will typically be in College three days per week. All units will be taught in a classroom/workshop environment. Students will also study English and maths where relevant.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed through coursework and will require the production and maintenance of an online website that forms a digital portfolio.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
