Level 3

This is an exciting two-year programme where students will learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to the creative industries.

T Levels are an alternative to A levels, apprenticeships and other 16 to 19 courses. Equivalent UCAS points to 3 A levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and can help students into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects at grade 4 or above including English and Maths.

What will I study?

The core units help you get to grips with what these creative industries are, how to work in them, researching and planning projects, working with others in a professional way and all the other skills professional media producers need.

You will also work to professional briefs through the Employer Set Project and work experience placements in relevant areas.

The Content Creation & Production occupational specialism allows students to develop practical skills at all stages of a creative project. It develops skills in ideas generation, effective research to develop those ideas, specific planning activities that allow those ideas to be realised and the technical skills to create media products with a clear sense of contexts and audience. This is where the skills developed in the core units really come into their own, allowing students create effective artefacts based on sound production practices. Students will have the opportunity to work in a variety of media, including graphics, print and video to develop and showcase their skills.

Industry Placement
The 45 day industry placement allows you to develop your occupational specialism skills as well as those necessary to working in any environment, such as effective planning, working with others, health and safety and promoting equality and diversity.

Method of delivery

As a T Level student, you will spend 80% of the course in their learning environment, gaining the skills that employers need. The other 20% is a meaningful industry placement, where you will put these skills into action.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through a combination of practical work, employer set projects and exams. It also includes an industry placement working with an employer that we will help you set up.

Good course combinations

This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational,
T Level, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.

Your next steps

The T Level qualification has been designed by a panel of employers, professional bodies, and education specialists. The purpose of the Level 3 Technical qualification is to ensure that students have the knowledge and skills to progress into skilled work and higher or degree level apprenticeships, higher level technical study, including university, creative degrees relevant to the T Level.
