Caring for Children Diploma Level 1
This course is suitable for anyone considering a career in the Early Years sector, or related sector where knowledge of child development is relevant. It is designed to stimulate interest and encourage understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for children.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but an interview to deem suitability.
Students are required to complete a successful Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to starting the course, for which there will be a charge.
What will I study?
The course covers a variety of units, which include:
- The value of a healthy lifestyle and diet
- Communication and learning
- Aspects of play
- The importance of building children's confidence
- Human lifespan from birth to the elderly
Method of delivery
All units will be taught in a classroom environment. Students will also study English and maths alongside this course.
How will I be assessed?
All units are assessed using a range of methods, which could include written assignments, tasks and practical assessments, such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
On completion of this course and achievement of appropriate grades in English and maths, students may progress to a Level 2 qualification. This course does not qualify students to work in the childcare sector, as further qualifications would be required.
