BPEC Air Source Heat Pump Systems
This qualification is for those currently employed in the plumbing and domestic heating industry with ideally 5 years+ experience, providing them with the necessary training to develop their existing skills.
You will be required to demonstrate the necessary abilities, skills, and knowledge to be able to plan, select, install and commission air source heat pump systems. In addition to this, you will also demonstrate a knowledge of service, maintenance and fault diagnosis and fault rectification of air source heat pump systems.
Entry requirements
Students should have a minimum NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in plumbing or conventional heating engineering, or a demonstrable number of years of relevant experience.
OR
NVQ Level 2/3 in Gas Installation and Maintenance or equivalent earlier certification
OR
Heating installers with minimum 3 years of experience installing wet central heating systems, evidence either by Manufacturer courses certification or Gas Safe register, OFTEC, MCS, HETAS
Students also have to hold the following if not included in the qualifications listed above:
- Water Regs UK Water Regulations/Water Byelaws or equivalent (if not included in the above qualifications)
Course units
The purpose of this qualification is for students to be able to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to plan, select, install, commission, maintain, service and repair air source heat pumps systems within the Building Services Engineering (BSE) renewable sector. The course/qualification is for those students who are:
1. Updating occupational competence, continuous professional development and/or obtaining a licence to practice.
2. Preparing for further learning or training and/or developing knowledge and/or skills in a subject area and are existing workers in the occupation seeking to extend their range of work.
The qualification is recognised by the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS) registration bodies as an acceptable qualification to join one of their respective schemes.
Assessments
Assessments consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations.
Course fees
York College currently have funding available through the UKSPF to offer this course fully funded (so FREE of charge) to anyone who has a home or work address in York or North Yorkshire.
