Art School: Drawing and Painting (Intermediate)
This Intermediate course will cover some more of the processes and techniques connected with Drawing and Painting. The course is intended as a follow on from previous Art School Painting and Drawing courses, so a basic knowledge of the techniques and processes would be essential. It is intended that you will have an outcome for each session you undertake.
Drawing and painting has been at the forefront of the arts for generations. This course will allow students to be part of this exciting genre and explore their creativity.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, and anyone can enrol. Hhowever, the course is designed for people with previous experience and qualifications in other art and media areas or who have completed previous Art School Drawing and Painting courses.
Course units
This course is suitable for people who would like to further develop their techniques and skills necessary to create drawings and paintings.
Drawing and painting has been at the forefront of the arts for generations. This course will allow students to be part of this exciting genre and explore their creativity. These
sessions will also introduce a contextual framework for students work and give
them a greater understanding on how to progress to a higher level.
Through this intermediate course, you will explore the traditional and contemporary modes of observation and the exploration of the
use of medium. You will be allowed and encouraged to find your own visual
language. As your work develops, a historical and contextual engagement
relating to your own way of working will be discussed and taught.
You will partake in the drawing and painting of a still life set up in the studio. The tutor will be on hand at all times to discuss individuals work and offer advice when required.
At the end of the ten week course, students will have had the opportunity to produce a selection of drawings and paintings in a range of materials and leave with a greater understanding of their own abilities.
Assessments
There is no formal completion qualification and students will be able to work at their own pace.

Completion of this course will enable students to progress on to various other York School of Art courses available.
