AI Policy and Student Guide

We are excited to introduce our new AI Policy and Student AI Guide. These documents have been developed to ensure that our use of AI technologies aligns with our educational values and supports our students' learning experiences.

Key Points:

AI Policy:

  • All staff members are required to read and familiarise themselves with the AI Policy. This policy outlines the ethical use of AI in our college and provides guidelines for integrating AI tools into our teaching practices.
  • The policy also introduces the Red and Amber Conditions for assessments. These conditions are designed to indicate the level of AI assistance permitted in student assessments:
    • Red Circle: No AI assistance allowed.
    • Amber Circle: Limited AI assistance allowed.
  • Please ensure that these conditions are clearly marked on all student assessment briefs using the appropriate coloured circle.

Student AI Guide:

  • This guide has been created to help students understand how they can ethically and effectively use AI tools in their studies.
  • We ask that all teachers share this guide with their students and discuss its contents in class to ensure that everyone is aware of the guidelines and expectations.

We believe that these resources will help us maintain academic integrity while embracing the benefits of AI technology. Your cooperation in implementing these policies is greatly appreciated.

University Admissions Tests

Some universities require admissions tests, this year these are all being run by testing centres (a bit like driving tests).  This means students have to create an account with Pearson Vue and then book on to the tests you want to sit.  The tests will not be sat at college so please remember to book at your nearest centre.

Frequently asked questions

Are there any exam tips?

  1. Check the Exam timetable in advance to understand when and where your exam is due, remember to double check the exam room on the day of the exam in case there has been a last-minute change.  These will be stationed in the Atrium and outside the Sports Hall. The Exam timetables should be available on Pro-Portal/Student App at the beginning of February, please check these and let Exams know of any issues.
  2. Arrive at your exam room 20 minutes before the exam start time.  This will be used to organise you and your belongings as you can only take in the items required for the exam.
  3. Make sure you have you college/photo ID with you.
  4. Please remember to bring essential equipment: black pen, pencil and any other equipment you may need for your exam, these must be in a see-through pencil case/plastic wallet.
  5. Ensure you’ve thoroughly read and understood the exam rules and regulations, you can find the general rules on the main page of the handbook (JCQ).
  6. Make sure you’ve revised and are fully prepared to sit the exam.
  7. Have an early night, eat a good breakfast and arrive with a positive mindset.
  8. There will be a clock in the exam room for you to pace yourself.  If you finish early, going back through your answers can often help spot things you may wish to change.
  9. Keep calm. If you have any concerns, raise your hand and inform the invigilator.

What do I do if I have two exams at the same time?

We refer to this as an Exam clash, we will email instructions regarding these clashes to all students involved by Easter.  If you don't receive that information, please contact the Exams office (01904 770325) or come and see us in 1F117

What time should I arrive for my exam?

Please arrive 30 minutes before your exam.  If you have a locker, we recommend you lock everything except the items needed for the exam in there.

What happens if I am late, ill or absent from my exam?

If you are delayed through problems with travel on the day of your exam YOU MUST contact the Exams Office for advice on 01904 770325.

If you are ill, you will need to contact the Exams Office before the exam start time.  There will be a self sickness form (Form14) to complete specifically for the exam (this can be completed after the exam when you are well again).  You can download this from the main Exams Handbook page.

Do I have to stay for the duration of the exam?

Yes, you should expect to stay for the full length of the exam.

What should I bring to the exam?

You need to bring everything that you will use for the exam. i.e. black pen, pencil, ruler, rubber, calculator etc.  College will have spare items on hand however items such as calculators could be in short supply and you are unlikely to get the brand/type you may have used in class.  It is recommended that you remember to bring your own to allow you the best chance to do well using your own calculator.

You are allowed to bring a drink to the exam, this must be in a totally clear plastic bottle.  The drink must also be transparent, such as weak orange or lemon, not blackcurrent.  See the link to acceptable bottles/drinks on the main Handbook page.

Where/when do I get my GCSE, Level 1, Level 2, A Level, Level 3 results?

A statement of results for all L1, L2, L3 qualifications will be emailed to your student email account from the time results can be released.  This will be 8am on the results day (L3 = 14/08/2025, L1 & L2 Inc GCSE = 21/08/2025), you should expect to receive the email within 40 minutes of this time.

All certificate will be received by December 2025, these are no longer posted out so if you wish for your certificate to be posted to you, please make a payment via the Online shop from 1st August 2025.

Can I still sit my exam if I forget my ID?

If you forget your ID card you will still be able to sit your exam, let the invigilator know on the day and we will organise alternative ID confirmation.
