IT & Computing students celebrated their achievements at the annual York College BITS Awards. The event recognised ‘Brilliant IT Students’, by group, and was hosted by College Principal Alison Birkinshaw and IT tutor Richard Hind.
The event took place in the College atrium where 27 students were nominated by their tutors to receive medals, in front of an audience of parents and carers. Guests were entertained by A Level Music student Mark Leighton playing acoustic guitar and the Head of Division for IT & Computing Maggie Ross presented the awards.
The overall winner of the evening was Extended Diploma IT & Computing student Gareth Walwyn, formerly of Boroughbridge High School.
IT & Computing tutor Sarah Sugden commented: “Every student is thoroughly deserving of their award. The nominations describing them included lots of lovely words such as outstanding, well mannered, focussed, motivated, enthusiastic, determined, willing and confident.”
