Care Leavers invited to learn new DIY skills in free workshop
Care Leavers from across the region are being invited to attend a free DIY Skills Workshop at York College & University Centre next month.
The Construction Cares Workshop will be held over three days from Monday, February 12th to Wednesday, February 14th in the college’s brand-new, multi-million pound Construction Centre Extension and is being delivered by the GMI Construction Group.
Participants will receive hands-on experience and training in construction-related industries, such as plumbing, carpentry and painting and decorating.
They will also be given the opportunity to gain work experience in a chosen trade and presented with a toolkit and award on completion of the course.
The programme is targeted at anybody who is preparing to leave foster or residential care or has recently transitioned to independent living.
Sessions will last from 9.30am to 3pm each day with lunch and refreshments provided.
Travel costs will also be reimbursed.
If you are interested in the workshop and would like to reserve a place on the workshop, please email SNewtonDenton@yorkcollege.ac.uk
Ideally, you should also be available to attend an Information Session on Wednesday, January 24th from 3.30pm to 4.15pm.
