York College student is feeding their dreams of rosettes
Simon Vaughan, hospitality student on his passion for cooking, his career aspirations and why he chose York College.
"I’m really passionate about cooking and being a chef, so that is why I chose this course. I like getting the chance to learn in a calm environment and covering all the basics you need for the industry.
"Nowhere else offered the course I wanted to do, and the College has great facilities.
"I started working part-time in a kitchen when I was at school, so I knew this was what I wanted to do. The in-house restaurant at College replicates the real working environment and I get along really well with the tutors.
"After completing this course I aim to progress to Level 3. I dream of achieving my own rosettes at a restaurant I’m working at, and then maybe at a restaurant that I own."
Simon is currently studying our Hospitality Diploma, level 2.
