York College Creative Show: Best in Show 2020
Our Virtual Creative Show doors have now been open for just over two weeks. So far, we have had over 2,500 visitors through our virtual doors. Last week multiple panels of staff gathered virtually to award the Best in Show for each course.
The panels were made up with a mix of non-vocational Art and Design staff, members of the Senior Leadership Team and Marketing staff to encourage a non-biased result. They were asked to consider the following:
- Where are the most interesting uses of materials and techniques? (given that much of the work was produced at home during lockdown)
- Which work communicates the most interesting/clear messages/meaning?
- What surprises you/excites you/makes you think?
Rob Baxter, Head of Art and Design at York College, said: “When lockdown occurred, we all were wondering what we would do instead of the annual Creative Show- thus the Virtual Show was born! The response to this from all students was phenomenal and the standard was excellent. Therefore, we wanted to just give recognition to those students who seemed to have gone that extra mile…the ‘Best in Show’
I’m really pleased for the students who were awarded the ‘Best in Show’ and I hope they take this positive feedback into their studies next year and beyond in their creative futures.”
Best in Show 2020
Our virtual Creative Show doors will be open until 31st July, don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the inspirations and aspirations of hundreds of Art and Design and Media Make-up students.
