Ready Steady Glow!
York College & University Centre students delivered artistic glamour at our annual hair, beauty and media make-up competitions.
Our annual hair, beauty and media make-up competitions saw York College & University students participate, at a wide range of levels, in our ‘Ready Steady Glow’ event. Throughout the day, the students worked tremendously hard pulling together looks ranging from 1920’s make-up to bridal hair styling.
As part of the event, we were thrilled to welcome local businesses in the hair and beauty industry to exhibit, speak with students and share industry knowledge and expertise.

After perfecting their looks, students then demonstrated their skills to a panel of judges made up of media make-up alumni Aaliyah Leslie and Georgina Danby, Verbena Spa Manager, Kelly Nicholson and Bannatyne Spa Manager, Michaela Hope.
The judges were highly impressed with the talent shown throughout the day. After their deliberation, the students were brought together in our Alan Ayckbourn theatre where the winners were announced by Head of Curriculum for Beauty, Hair, Sports and Uniformed Protective Services, Karen Goodman and Deputy Head Caroline Botsaris.
Here's what Karen and Caroline had to say:
"We were extremely proud of the incredible work and commitment our students dedicated to showcase their skills. Each and every one of the students dedicated their time to design and recreate looks to meet the competition criteria.
"It was also an absolute pleasure to invite employers and judges to be part of this fabulous event!"
