Mapping out a career in business

“I studied Business Level 3 Extended Diploma at York College. Achieving triple grade Distinction*, my hard work was recognised gaining Business Management Student of the year 2017.

“After completing my studies, I went on to work in luxury retail for five years, progressing to management level. After a career break traveling around Asia, I returned realising I wanted to further pursue education.

“York College was such a supportive and nurturing environment. I returned to York College University Centre to pursue my dreams of gaining a professional qualification- BA (Hons) Business Management.

“The course is organised well and structured, so I can work alongside gaining transferable skills. The modules are relevant to many industries, providing knowledge of different functional areas of business.

“The Customer Experience unit compromised of mixed assessment methods: a report analysing customer touch points and creating a visual customer journey map. The research related to my current workplace, assessing how consumers interact with the company and identifying areas to improve the service.

“The roadmap I created highlighted the interactions consumers have on social media with brands, all the way through to the customer instore experience and aftersales marketing. The customer journey is an expansive and vital process businesses must consider. The customer journey map corresponded with my work at Schuh and is now being used in store to help enhance the customer experience."
