Bursaries awarded to talented students by York’s Company of Merchant Taylors
The achievements of nine creative York College students saw them rewarded with bursaries from the Company of Merchant Taylors.
The annual bursary was presented to students from across our music, construction and art & design curriculum, in front of family and friends, at a ceremony attended by the Master of the Company, Anthony Dixon, Roy Wallington the Chair of the Charitable Donations Committee, and our Chief Executive and Principal, Lee Probert.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Dixon said the handing over of the bursaries was an ‘opportunity to celebrate the artisan crafts which go on at York College’.
Lee Probert told the students: “You should feel a sense of pride that you are here this morning and know that we are proud of you.
“The bursaries are a testament to what you have achieved and how you have engaged with your learning.”
The Company of Merchant Taylors has maintained close links with York College for many years, in support of skills training and individual student success and achievement.
Annually, the Guild encourages and rewards students who excel in their chosen craft by presenting prizes at the York College Fashion Show and awarding the creative bursaries.
