Adults offered a taste of York College courses on new Super Saturday event
ADULTS in North Yorkshire are being encouraged back into the classroom at York College for a taste of courses which can lead to new skills, experience and qualifications.
The College announced it will open its doors on July 2 for its first Super Saturday event, offering sessions in a wide range of vocational, academic and practical courses to anyone aged 19 or over.
Marie Neal-Smith, Adult Lead at York College, said: “We believe you can go on to achieve so much more through education and learning new skills. The Super Saturday event is a chance to get a one-day introduction to a course at York College.
“We have short courses as well as professional and degree-level study in a huge range of subjects, on offer for adult learners. The sessions are delivered in specialist workshops and classrooms and courses range from British Sign Language to bricklaying to facial waxing.
“If you are thinking about studying a degree as a mature student then we have a varied suite of Access to HE Diplomas to get you there, so you can just drop into the event for information and to chat with our team to find out more”.
The Super Saturday event, which runs from 9.30am to 3.30pm, expands on York College’s previous taster sessions by offering adults the opportunity of experiencing either a half or full day introduction to their chosen subject.
Anyone aged 19 or over is welcome to attend but must register for the event here. The fee for Super Saturday is £10. Breakfast is included for everyone registered to attend.
