A hello from Freddie, our Careers Advisor
Hello, I’m Freddie and I am the college careers advisor. It is my job to help students get all the information they need about their options. If students are unsure about where they want to get to, how to get there or what they want to do, it is my job to help!
I can help with making decisions about university, apprenticeships, careers options, qualification pathways, employability skills, gap year planning and so much more! I am impartial, so I will always look at things as objectively and factually as possible to help students work out what the best choice is for them.
It is so important to explore options and take time. I encourage students to be proactive, make a plan and do some research. I help students to think about options, what they enjoy, what skills they have and what opportunities are out there. The best place to start is to make a plan!
Careers advice is about supporting students to be independent and confident. I always try to focus on what they 'can' do. I am a great believer that, if you get the careers journey right, the destination will sort itself out.
Young people can often come under a lot of pressure – whether it is parents or what their friends are doing. I help students to work out a rational way of approaching careers research.
Careers guidance is about having a safe space to explore, discuss and develop so that students can start planning their future!
I work in the student experience hub on the ground floor of the college, please feel free to pop by and say hello.
