Our Application Process
1 - Application is received and processed by the Admissions Team and an acknowledgment email is sent to the applicant within 7 days. For creative courses, digital portfolios are required. For Performing Arts courses, auditions are required.
2 - We recommend that all applicants attend a York College Open Event before applying. However, applicants who are predicted to meet the course entry requirements will usually receive an offer without an interview. Applicants who do not meet this criteria, or those with an EHCP, or those who have declared a criminal conviction may be invited to a telephone or virtual Guidance Discussion before an offer is issued. Applications received after the end of the summer term will be invited to main enrolment to discuss potential courses.
3 - When an offer is made applicants will receive an ‘Offer Confirmation’ email confirming details of the offer and any conditions or entry requirements that apply.
4 - Applicants will receive a college email account and will be asked to download the York College and Uni Centre app. Applicants will receive regular communication via the app (and email) throughout academic year about becoming a student at York College.
5 - Main enrolment takes place from 18th-29th August 2025. Applicants will be notified of their enrolment appointment in early August 2025. Enrolment takes place at York College face-to-face. Applicants must attend their designated enrolment appointment or at least attend in the main enrolment period to secure a place on their offered course
Please note applications are subject to the ‘Right to Refuse Admission’ policy, where the College reserves the right to reject an application, including but not exclusively for the following reasons:
- If an applicant is unable to demonstrate the minimum entry requirements for the course and is not committed to undertaking these
- If the course applied for is undersubscribed (with the result that its delivery in not viable for the College or its students) or oversubscribed or if the College is, for whatever reason, unable to deliver the course or programme applied for.
- If an applicant has a criminal conviction which prevents them from undertaking the course.
- If the applicant has specific physical, medical, social or curriculum needs which the College considers, in its reasonable opinion, that it is unable to meet.
- If the applicant has previously been subject to the College disciplinary process which prevents re-Admissions, either within a designated time frame or indefinitely.
