Members of the Student Association come from students who are Course Representatives, and reflect the range of students at the College e.g. 16 - 18 Full-time students, adult students, Apprentices, HE and International students. Course Reps represent the views of their student groups, as a whole, at relevant meetings. To do this, they take their peers' views/comments to meetings and then feedback decisions made at these meetings to their student group.
The Student Association meet with members of the College's Senior Management Team (SMT) to consider issues relating to the wider college, i.e. not the students’ own programmes of study. They are involved with discussions associated with the College’s Strategic Plan, Self-Assessment Report and other cross-college topics as appropriate. They also identify representatives to attend key College strategic meetings.
Two members of the Student Association serve as Student Governors on the College's Governing Body.
The Student Association is a key link in the relationship between students and the senior managers and governors of the College.
