This course is perfect as an introduction to understanding and communicating in British Sign Language for learners with a little previous knowledge.
No formal requirements but a willingness to participate is essential. Students should have already completed British Sign Language for Beginners or have basic knowledge.
Dates and Times
23 January 2018 – 17 April 2018 6.30-8.30 pm.
The course will give a basic introduction to British Sign Language, which will help you to begin understanding and communicating with users. It will cover basic communication, including areas such as:
- Talking about your home
- Description of People
- Asking questions and using negation
- Giving directions and getting around
- Telling the time
- Location & Description of Objects
- What’s It Like? (describing people, animals and objects)
- Travelling - public and private transport
- Going on holiday
This will be suitable for people who wish to communicate with non-hearing friends, colleagues and family members but is also a fun way to begin to experience the culture associated with the deaf community.

No formal assessment.
