Who is it for and what is the aim?

This is for Team Managers and senior Managers, who lead or manage projects, on behalf of the organisation. It follows the fundamental principles of PRINCE2 (projects in controlled environments): the long-held accepted kite mark standard for international project management standards within the public and private sectors. The main aims are to introduce the standard, build understanding, clarify how the organisation can own the process with its clients, and develop practical skills across the process elements.

What are the learning outcomes?

As a result of the development, delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the 10 stages of the PRINCE2 project management process
  • Describe the key roles
  • Explain the component parts of an effective Project Brief
  • Prepare a sound business case
  • Identify how to undertake a risk assessment
  • Outline the review/documentation systems for effective project management

What are the topics across the two days?

  • The 3 phases of PRINCE2
  • The 10 stages
  • The cost-time-quality dynamic
  • Reasons for project failures
  • Common risks that can be obliterated
  • Clarifying the scope and agreeing the SMART objectives
  • Confirming the contract
  • The classic Project Management roles
  • Work Breakdown Structures
  • Sequencing and scheduling
  • Negotiation know-how
  • RAM (Responsibility Assignment Matrix)

  • Closure reporting

How will delegates learn?

These two days will be supported by bespoke workbooks, simulations, demonstrations, small group, individual, and trio exercises, scenarios, and other blended learning techniques. Additionally, there will be informal testing to ascertain individual and group learning levels, via structured questions, following each day.
