BA (Hons) Leadership and Management
This top-up course is designed to convert an existing Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management in to a full BA (Hons) degree.
It is an accessible programme which will support you to expand your knowledge and understanding of contemporary leadership and management concepts, including strategic aspects. The content of the programme is applicable to all business organisations, with a strong focus on the continued development of leadership and management skills and the application of these in the workplace.
Contemporary topics such as ethics, sustainability and responsible leadership are also central to the programme. There is a strong theme of employability and the application of theoretical concepts to practical situations. Teaching and learning strategies have been designed to further develop key transferable and employability skills, based on current practice in business organisations, to enable you to succeed in diverse leadership situations. The course also focuses on the creation of highly reflective, evaluative and responsible practitioners, managers and leaders through professional skills development.
As a BA (Hons) Leadership and Management student, you will be working with dedicated tutors who are available to support you whenever you need it. The tutors have a wide range of industry experience and have gained key links and contacts with large national organisations and key public sector institutions, giving you exceptional tutor support and the opportunity to gain new networking contacts.
Completion of a relevant Foundation Degree or equivalent 240 credit Level 5 qualification in a Business, or Leadership and Management related subject.

This course offers flexibility, in terms of both delivery and content. The programme is delivered in blocks so that you are able to commit to employment whilst studying. The core content will be delivered in a single day per week with additional time for supported learning, research and preparation for the dissertation. The modules include flexibility to allow for in-depth investigation of the contemporary environment in which business organisations operate, allowing you to explore areas of specific interest. Alongside your degree, it is possible to undertake an array of other professional qualifications that we offer, such as (AAT) from levels 2 to 4.

All students will experience a variety of lectures, seminars and discussion sessions and will further benefit from extensive tutorial support. The programme is assessed via a range of methods including seminar activities, written assignments and internal examinations. Assessments are designed to enable students to apply concepts and constructs to their own experience in order to develop their own professional practice.
On successful completion of the programme you will receive a BA (Hons) Degree in Leadership and Management awarded by York St John University. You can progress to Master’s Level or to employment.
Many of our graduates have embarked on successful management careers in a variety of local, regional and national employers and organisations. Some previous students have also set up their own businesses and enterprise activities such as event planning and catering.
