A basic working knowledge of a sewing machine and how to use it along with some experience of pattern cutting is expected. This course is for intermediate and advanced level students.
Dates and Times
We are hoping to run this course in Autumn 2017.
Moving on from using commercial patterns onto independent pattern-drafting to make you really consider what makes a good design, how good designs are created and how they can be used to develop a unique individual style.
Emphasis is placed on developing garment patterns working directly from the stand and drafted blocks.
Consideration of fabrics will be encouraged; how they drape, how they fall, how they stretch and how they feel.
Good shapes, fabrics, patterns and colours all work together and are all key to the finished garment to be produced.
Students may move onto other Awards, Diplomas, Art School courses in the field of Art, Design and Craft. The tutor will be available to advise on progression and opportunities for further study.
The course will cost £220.
Courses costing more than £100 can usually be paid for in instalments. Please contact the College for details.
