Entry requirementsA minimum of 5 GCSEs including English at grade C (grade 4) or above and Art or Textiles. You will be invited to an interview where you will show your portfolio of work.
What will I study?This is an exciting contemporary course for students interested in studying fashion. The course is delivered through inspirational projects covering a very wide range of themes specialising in all visual and technical aspects of fashion.
The units will be studied over two years on an integrated basis culminating in a Final Project which is exhibited at the end of year catwalk fashion show.
The specialist units include production techniques, fashion illustration, pattern cutting, CAD, garment construction and all aspects of fashion. There are also real life projects, competitions and opportunities to work with professionals.
How will I be assessed?The units are assessed and graded through projects and assignments marked by your tutors throughout the course. You will gain feedback in tutorials to monitor your progress.
CostsThere is a contribution of £75 a year towards materials payable at enrolment.
What could it lead to?Students go into a diverse range of careers within the realms of fashion in the creative industries. If you decide to progress at the College or go on to university you may take a BA (Hons) Degree Iin Fashion or related course. Staff work with individuals to build their portfolio for interviews for courses in the following areas:
- Fashion Design
- Buying and Merchandising
- Design/Production/Marketing etc
- Fashion Promotion/Styling/Imaging
- Fashion Communication
