Student Savers

There are lots of different student savers available depending on where you live and how you will travel to College – make sure you investigate all of your options to ensure that you are getting the best deal and saving the most money!

Coming to York College/Askham Bar start from Rougier Street and the Railway Station:

  • White Line (Park and Ride) 3
  • Pink Line 12
  • Connexions Buses Route 13 (from Haxby to Copmanthorpe)
  • Coastliner services via York stop at York College.

A range of discounted travel passes for unlimited use of the First bus services in York can be purchased on the bus, from the First York website and from the Finance Desk at College.

Arriva - Discounted termly and annual passes, full-time students aged 18 or over.

CityZap - Faster and more frequent services between Leeds and York.

East Yorkshire Motor Service - 20% off all bus journeys with a pre-paid card, for full-time 16-18s only. Buy your card online and top up on the bus. 

Harrogate Coach Travel (Connexions) - Travel on a child’s fare with a YOzone or proof of age under 19.

Plusbus  - Students and young people with a 16-25 Railcard get 33% off and children get 50% off our day ticket prices.

Reliance – Buses to/from York College, discounted student fares

Transdev/Coastliner - BOB replaces the old paper Young Person Supersaver and Student SuperSaver cards. BOB is a smartcard that gives you a saving of around a third off the full adult bus fare. If you are aged between 11 and 18, you can travel with BOB for the discounted rate until the day before your 19th birthday. If you are a full-time student over 19 you can travel with BOB and get a discount, but you will have to carry your college ID.

Utopia - Utopia operate buses from Wistow and Cawood to York College.

West Yorkshire Metro - Half-price travel within West Yorkshire with a 16-18 MCard. Includes 1/3 off Coastliner fares when you start in West Yorkshire and travel to North Yorkshire.

YOzone - Free YOzone pass gives reduced price travel within York, full-time 16-18s only.

16-25 Railcard - 1/3 off most fares with a £30 per year/£70 for 3 years pass, everyone aged 16-25 and full-time students aged 26 and over, minimum fares apply to travel before 10am.
