The York College Creative Show 2018, entitled ‘Make Your Mark’ is an extensive exhibition of work by Further Education and Higher Education students showing inspirational creativity from a range of disciplines; drawing, painting, print-making, glass, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture, 3D, product design, film, digital imaging, animation, photography, fashion, design and graphics.
The Show’s Vocational exhibition includes work by Art & Design Foundation Diploma students progressing to prestigious Art Schools and university destinations. Course Leader, Angela Newdick says: “It is important students have complete freedom in selecting the university that is right for them and we offer as much guidance as possible to help them make that decision. We are delighted that all students who applied to university were successful in obtaining places, with many being selected by prestigious, and often difficult to get into, destinations.”
The Vocational exhibition opens with a Private View on Thursday 14th June (6.00pm – 8.00pm) and runs from Friday 15th June – Wednesday 20th June (10.00am – 5.00pm), including Saturday (10.00am – 12noon) in the College’s Art and Design Studios (2nd and 3rd floors), Sim Balk Lane.
Further exhibitions in the College’s Creative Show feature work from the BA (Hons) Degree courses in Contemporary Craft, Fashion Design & Production and Graphic Design. A selection of work will be displayed at York College and the main exhibition will be at York St John University where the Private View is on Thursday 21st June (6.00pm – 8.00pm) and then runs from Tuesday 22nd June – Tuesday 26th June (10.00am – 5.00pm)
Rob Baxter, Head of Art & Design at York College is proud of this year’s Show: “It always amazes me how each year students create innovation work from such a diverse range of sources. This is testament to the hard work and talents of students and staff on all the art and design courses at the College.”
