Both Issie and Zoe, who previously attended Selby High School, study Sport & Exercise Science at York College, and play for the College’s Football Development Centre. The girls also play for the Manchester City and Doncaster Rovers Belles Development Team and they have secured a place in the 24 player squad after successfully attending two trials earlier in 2017. In December, they were invited to attend a two day training camp at the home of England Football, St Georges Park in Burton, before playing against the Independent Schools FA Team. Both players gave an excellent account of themselves helping the team to secure an emphatic 11-0 win over ISFA and they now look forward to fixtures against Welsh Schools FA, Bristol City Ladies and a trip to Spain to compete in the Costa Blanca Cup playing against RCD Espanyol, Valladolid, Joanenc, Vic Riuprimer, Itaroa Huarte, Gimnastic Manresa and CD Amigo.

Issie and Zoe say: “This is such an amazing opportunity for us and we are really looking forward to it. Our family, friends and tutors are proud of our achievements and they have been very supportive. The fact that the ECFA programme is recognised by the Football Association is amazing and we have had national team scouts come and watch our trials and games so far - opening the door for us to be recognised at England level.”

Gaz Lee, York College Sports Development Centre Coordinator and Issie and Zoe’s coach adds: “Zoe and Issie are tremendous ambassadors for York College’s Football Development Centre. They are continuing the success of the Women’s football programme at the College, with four players over the past three years being selected for the ECFA National Squad (including Rosie Todd 16/17, Hannah Greenwood 15/16).
