Bands from the York College music department showcased their talents in the College’s Alan Ayckbourn Theatre in a two-day music event; Sound Circus.
Over twenty bands, made up of students from all the music courses offered at York College, including students in the College’s Soul Band and the Music Development Centre, performed a variety of songs from a range of genres. Songs by artists such as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Aretha Franklin, Oasis, Norah Jones and James Brown, as well as songs from the musicals Chicago and Wicked, featured in the showcase.
Emily Thorp, Team Leader for Music at York College said: “Sound Circus is an annual music event and it is a favourite for students and staff. The standard of musicianship shown by our students was, yet again, excellent. Everyone involved, on stage and backstage, worked extremely hard to make the event a success. The performers should be very proud of themselves. We are already looking forward to our next music event, the Christmas concert.”
