York College has awarded Student of the Year titles to four students studying Higher (HE) and Further Education (FE) programmes.

The three FE winners study a variety of courses within the College’s IT and Computing Division and the HE Student of the Year is studying a BA (Hons) Management degree. The following students were awarded Student of the Year Titles in recognition of their personal and academic achievements throughout the 2014/15 academic year:
A Level Student of the Year – Ben Lister (formerly of Howden School and Technology College) has studied A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Computing and Economics
Vocational Student of the Year – Jacob Allen (formerly home educated) has studied a BTEC Diploma in IT Software Development
Functional Skills Student of the Year - Sean Furmanis has studied Level 1 Functional Skills
HE/Adult Student of the Year - Joseph Whiteley (from Bradford) has studied BA (Hons) Management
College Principal, Alison Birkinshaw presented the students with a trophy saying: "I am delighted to award Student of the Year titles to four really outstanding students. Each one of them has an exceptional reason to win this accolade and without doubt they are all fully deserving of this title. They are positive role models in the College and have embraced the support that they have been given, whilst also passing that support onto their peers. The enthusiasm and positivity that they have shown in their studies will certainly see them achieve wonderful things in the future. We are delighted that they have been York College students and wish them every success.”
