Studying the BTEC National Diploma in Children’s Care and Development at York College was absolutely the right course for Hannah Sutton as she can now realise her ambition to become a Norland Nanny.
From a young age Hannah (formerly of Fulford School) wanted to work with young children and whilst attending College and enjoying work experience during her course she became interested in becoming a nanny.
Hannah applied to Norland College in Bath, through UCAS. She had looked at other university courses however the obvious choice for her was the BA (Hons) degree in Early Years Development and Learning with the famous Norland Diploma offered alongside.
Hannah says: “I’ve learned loads at York College, particularly on the practical side, spending two days a week on placement. I’ve had work experience in nurseries and schools and more recently I enjoyed nannying. My College tutors are very good and they encouraged me to aim high. Norland College is renowned to be the top place for nanny training. My York College course has given me similar training and my work experience gave me a real advantage on my interview day at Norland.
“The nanny training at Norland College is very traditional and strict and is modelled on Mary Poppins. Norland nannies wear a distinctive brown and white uniform (at all times) and the specialist Norland Diploma provides training in practical everyday tasks such as driving, cleaning, sewing and cooking.
“I’m so excited to start, everyone keeps telling me how prestigious Norland Nannies are; they are often employed by royalty! Also, I hadn’t realised that Norland nannies can earn very high salaries! Years ago my mum set her sights on becoming a Norland Nanny and I’m pleased I can now live her dream.”
