York College hosted a National Occupational Standards (NOS) workshop run by the sector skills council, Habia (hair and beauty industry authority). The workshops are being held across the country to enable training providers and industry professionals to gain an update and clarity on recent changes in the Hairdressing and Barbering standards.
Jayne Laverick, Head of Division for Hair and Beauty at York College, said: “This was a wonderful opportunity to network with other professionals from the sector and for other providers to see our excellent facilities at the College. The delegates also enjoyed a delicious lunch in the College’s Ashfields restaurant.”
York College is a key provider for training in the hair and beauty industry and has strong links with the local community. Local employers with apprentices training at York College include; Bang Hair, Zenn Hair and Beauty at David Lloyd Gym, Niche Hair and Beauty and Loves Hair and Beauty.
Richard Lambert, Director in Sales and Marketing at Habia said: “As well as providing a fantastic location for our event, the delegates enjoyed a tour of the College’s wonderful facilities, particularly its hair and beauty salons. The feedback we received from the attendees was very positive; they enjoyed the day thoroughly and commented on the excellence of the hair and beauty division and the professionalism of the catering and hospitality students during lunch in the College’s training restaurant.”
