York College took an active part in York Residents’ Weekend with Extended Diploma Music students providing several bands and soloists on the Minster FM stage in Parliament Street. Taster sessions in Art and Design, Stonemasonry and Media Make-up were enjoyed by many at the Yorkshire Museum and York residents visited the York College gazebo in Parliament Street for advice and guidance and information on the full range of courses offered at the College.
Charlotte Hawes, Event Organiser at York College said: “York College plays an important role in the city and the Residents’ Festival is the perfect opportunity to show people what the College does. There was a great response to our taster sessions at the Yorkshire Museum. Those trying their hand at Stonemasonry had a go at carving their house number in stone and in the Art and Design sessions residents had a go at paper quilling, which was fun. Lots of people had scars and bruises from our Media Make-up team and our Music students did a fantastic job entertaining everyone in Parliament Street.”
