York College is happy to be associated with Caroline’s Rainbow Foundation and the great work it does in keeping young people informed about travel safety. Not only does the charity present an annual psychology prize at the College, it also works with students to raise awareness of safe foreign travel. Recently the charity has launched its very own Safer Travel App with specific travel advice and safety information from destinations around the globe.
The app provides tips on travel safety, information on different countries, highlights and attractions and useful emergency phone numbers. It also offers helpful website links travellers might need, local and annual events in the area and places to go and avoid, seasons to travel, interactive maps, current populations sizes, ethnic groups and languages spoken. The app has an additional live feed to provide up to date information on local news, political situations and currency exchange rates.
A member of York College alumni, Richard Stuttle, Founder and Director of Caroline’s Rainbow Foundation says: “I hope young people will download our new app and feed back any useful information or comments. Our charity’s main focus is to keep young people safe and informed when traveling abroad, especially during gap years. My sister, a former York College student, was tragically murdered whilst on a gap year in Australia and she would be pleased to know that the charity, in her memory, is maintaining links with the College. “
