Performing Arts Development Centre
Who is the Performing Arts Development Centre available to?
The Performing Arts Development Centre is a bespoke programme of study for high achieving students aiming to progress to a drama school/conservatoire or a top university. The programme is designed to challenge students, maximising their employment skills and career opportunities.
How does the programme work?
A minimum of 2 grade Bs and 4 grade Cs at GCSE are required, which must include English and Maths. Students will undertake an Extended Diploma in a specialist subject area such as Acting, Backstage Arts, Dance or Musical Theatre.
In some exceptional cases it may be possible for students to combine their studies with an additional qualification offered in the College. All students will be expected to undertake a period of work experience.
What could it lead to?
Previous students have progressed to the Northern Ballet School, Royal Academy of Dance, Rose Bruford, Central School of Speech and Drama, LIPA and Bristol Old Vic to name a few. Many students are now working professionally in Theatre, the West End, TV and related industries.
All students will be expected to undertake a period of work experience.
