Ashfields, the on-site training restaurant at York College, has been awarded a TripAdvisor 2015 Certificate of Excellence.
Hospitality and Catering staff and students working in York College’s training restaurant are delighted their hard work has been recognised by customers. Ashfields has been voted tenth out of 663 restaurants in York and thirteenth out of 747 places to eat in the city. With 43 customer reviews on the TripAdvisor website, 40 rated excellent and three rated very good.
Head Chef Stuart Snell comments: "Winning a TripAdvisor 2015 Certificate of Excellence is testament to the consistently high standards we expect of our students - to deliver quality food and service. Being in the top ten on TripAdvisor means students' hard work is more visible in a highly competitive industry."
One TripAdvisor review reads: "A meal here never fails to please and astonish. You read the menu and then look forward to trying the unusual but brilliant combinations, will be back again. Thanks to all the staff and students for making this such a fabulous experience."
Ashfields also offers private dining and event catering services. More recently Level 2 Hospitality Services and Professional Cookery students showcased their skills at the High Sheriff's Garden Party at Skipwith Hall. Working in a marquee and in four acres of stunning gardens, the garden party was attended by many civil dignitaries. Charles Forbes Adams, Sheriff of North Yorkshire wrote: "Both staff and students excelled ... delicious savoury and sweet canapés were distributed to three hundred guests in our garden ... we will be singing their praises for a long time to come."
Rianne Hughes, Ashfields Restaurant Coordinator commented: "We are keen for students to experience as many aspects of the industry as possible and they embraced the opportunity to showcase their talents. They thoroughly enjoyed the event and we were extremely proud of their efforts."
